Book Haul (+ New Blog Avatar) | May 2022

Hello everyone! How are you today?

It’s time for another book haul! Second one for the year! Not bad…

I have about eight physical books to show you all that I have gathered from the end of last month to now.

The Curse and the Broken by Chloe Hodge

I was given this as a present from my mum and it had a lovely message from the author along with a bookmark. I don’t know much about the book but it definitely sounds interesting.

The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

This is a romance that I’ve had my eye on for some time now. This just seemed like a cute, fluffy romance that’s always good to read when you need something light to distract you from the world.

Weather Girl by Rachel Lynn Solomon

Another contemporary romance that just seems cute. It’s all about Ari, a tv meteorologist, and Russell, sports reporter, who team up together to help fix their bosses rocky relationship.

Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

I feel like there’s no need to introduce Daisy Jones & The Six as it seemed like nearly everyone has read this or at least heard about it. I have always heard about it but never read it or thought about buying it until I came across it at my local library book sale. It was only 50c so I thought what the hell I’ll give it a go.

The Unknown Beloved by Amy Harmon

As soon as I heard about this book coming out I immediately ordered it on pre-sale. I absolutely adored What the Wind Knows and just gotta read her next book. I have started to get a little collection of her works. This seemed so interesting as it’s set in Chicago 1920s and a murder mystery.

The Fine Print by Lauren Asher

Seen this circling around BookTok and seemed like a fun contemporary romance. Each book in this trilogy focuses on one brother and they’re all billionaires. I actually don’t know much but I’ve heard its got the grumpy x sunshine main character trope.

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

The Song of Achilles is a book that has definitely made its way around the book community. I have yet to read this book or any of Madeline Miler’s so this will be a first. I’ll be interested to see what I think of it.

Next Year in Havana by Chanel Cleeton

This was another book I found at the library sale for only 50c. The cover is absolutely beautiful and have seen this around but never really thought to try it but when I saw it was in the book sale I thought this’d be a nice opportunity to give it a go.

This book is all about Marisol, a Cuban-American, travels to Havana after the death of her grandmother. She grew up with her grandmother’s stories and how she fled during the revolution. Going back to Havana, where her grandmother grew up, she learns about Havana life and culture as well as discovering a hidden family secret.

Lastly, I want to mention my awesome new blog avatar! It was created by Sara, her Etsy shop is called CustomPortraitsUSArt where offers drawings/cartoon versions of photos you send in. I found her service very quick and good communication and loved the final results. I felt very included in the process.

Absolutely in love with it.

Until next time…

xx
