January TBR

Hello everyone! Hope you’re doing well and Happy New Year!

Let’s hope 2022 will be a good year. 2021 was definitely an unusual one for me. I went through a few things and I’m looking forward to a fresh start.

As soon as the year was drawing to a close I found myself hunting for all the readathons in January to start my reading year off. Last year I didn’t do as many readathons, or reading in general really, and this year I want to get back into it.

The readathon I chose for my January reading plans is Explore-a-thon, the Exploration Games, where you compete as individuals and as teams to see who is the best at the Explorer’s Academy. The readathon was created by The Chaotic Reader and co-hosts (Ali @ HardbackHoarder, Vanessa @ Paper Faerie, Kelly @ Velvet Library and Starzy @ Starzy Rose). To check out the information for the readathon I will leave a link to her YouTube video here.

The challenges can be a bit more in-depth with choosing a team and participate in reading sprints as well as other fun activities but for me I’m just sticking to just the reading prompts as that would be easier to track for myself and still participate :). Explore-a-thon runs from the 1st of January to the 31st and the main rule is to have fun!

Archer: a book that you think will be a “hit” (5 star prediction)

Wundersmith by Jessica Townsend, the second book in the Nevermoor series). I’m pretty sure I gave the first book 5 stars and I am hoping the second will be just as good. I loved the audiobook so I’ll be listening to that as well.

Duelling: a book with multiple POVS

For this prompt my options are either Gods & Monsters by Shelby Mahurin, the final book in the Serpent & Dove trilogy, or My Contrary Mary by Cynthia Hand, Jodi Meadows and Brodi Ashton. It would be good to finish a series but I also love the writing style Cynthia Hand, Jodi Meadows and Brodi Ashton have and the humour so I’m really looking forward to starting it.

500 Metre Dash: a short read

To Catch a Wild Viscount by Tessa Dare. I completely forgot I had this novella in my Kindle library. It’s under a 100 pages and is perfect for this prompt.

Flying: a book that makes your heart “soar” (book with a romance element)

Lips Touch by Laini Taylor will be my short read. I haven’t read a Laini Taylor since finishing the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy so I’m looking forward to it! Also the illustrations throughout this book look amazing.

Weapon Forging: any kind of weapon on the cover

This one will be a reread for me as I wanna have a refresh before starting the next one. For my first read of this I only had the ebook and once I finished it I wanted to get a physical copy. I also have the audiobook now so it’ll be good to read along with it.

Lair of Dreams by Libba Bray. I started this book ages ago and completely forgot about it so I want to pick it up again to continue this series as I loved the first book. I enjoyed the audiobook so I think that’s the way to go for this series. I love the narrator.

Plant & Wildlife Identification: a pretty book

When I was looking through my shelves the book Chaos Walking by Patrick Ness (originally known as The Knife of Never Letting Go) kept jumping out at me. I’ve been meaning to read it but honestly kinda forgot about it so I was surprised with how much it stood out to me when looking for a book for this prompt. The cover also looks pretty cool.

These are only half the prompts available but I’ll be focusing on just these ones first and if I end up completing these then I will continue with the others. Although, with how my reading currently is I know this will be enough for me.

This sounds like a fun readathon (I always love finding new readathons each month) and looking forward to see how much I complete. Are you participating in any readathons this month?

Until next time…

xx
