Hey everyone! How are you today?
This Top 5 is hosted by Mandy @ Devouring Books. Be sure to check out her blog for the upcoming topics if you’d like to join in 🙂
Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston
This is a debut that pretty much everyone has heard about and everyone has read (well except for me). It’s a LGBTQ+ romance involving the relationship between the President of the United States son and the Prince of Wales. I can imagine this will involve the politics and possibly a forbidden romance.
Woven in Moonlight by Isabel Ibanez
A young adult fantasy within a Bolivian culture. It sounds so magical. I believe this is set after a war. I, sadly, don’t know a whole lot of the the plot but I think it deals with the repercussions of the war, politics and it’s mixed with a magic system and slow-burn romance.. The cover is beautiful and author as well is Bolivian so it’s great Latin American representation. It’s a book I definitely have my eyes on.
Tweet Cute by Emma Lord
Tweet Cute is YA rom-com all about the rivalry between two family deli’s (companies?) once there’s an outbreak over a stolen recipe. This commence’s the Twitter war which is run by Pepper & Jack. These two high schoolers are complete opposites as Pepper is the overachiever and trying to be the best at everything while Jack is known as the class clown. They are well aware of each others presence at school but what they don’t realise is that they’re the ones at a current Twitter war. And anonymously chatting online and falling for each other.
Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin
This seemed to be a book everyone either loved or was no into. I, personally, was on the side of loving it. I enjoyed the whole vibe and characters. Serpent & Dove is all about witches, magic and a forbidden, hate to love, relationship. A witch hunter marrying a witch? You can imagine how well this will turn out.
Blood Heir by Amelie Wen Zhao
This is one that I’m currently reading. I’ve been listening to the audiobook and reading the e-book. Blood Heir is about a princess named Anastacya who is an Affinite, a blood witch where she can control a person by manipulating their blood. It’s about Anastacya on the run and on a mission to prove her innocence after she’s been accused of murdering her father. The only person she can recruit to find the true killer is con man Ramson also known as Quicktongue.
What are your top 5 books from debut authors?
Until next time…

Woven in moonlight is also on my list! It sounds so good, I hope we will both enjoy 🙂

I read Serpent and Dove and while it was good it was one of my most anticipated releases of the year and I just had higher expectations for it. It was a bit too much romance for me.

Sorry you didn’t enjoy it as much as you hoped. I always enjoy reading romance so I didn’t mind it 😊

I just had hoped for more world building. I am going to check out book 2. I think if I had gone in with lower expectations I would have loved it

Yeah that’s true. Hopefully in the second book it’ll go more in-depth with the world.

Well I think I will enjoy it more expecting a 3 or 4 star read than I did hoping for a 5 star book
