Top 5 (Tuesday)…Anticipated Books for 2020

Hey everyone!

It’s Tuesday and it’s time for another Top 5 Tuesday! This is hosted by Shannah @ Bionic Book Worm and this week’s Top 5 is all around anticipated books for 2020. I feel like majority of these books are ones I’ve mentioned previously in other posts so I tried not to repeat myself too much but here are my top 5!

The Raven and the Dove by Kaitlyn Davis

Publication date: March 2020

The Raven and the Dove is the first book of four in the series. A couple of days ago, I was lucky enough to receive an arc thanks to Netgalley so super excited to read it. I only found out about this book late last year, happened to just come across it, but it’s high on my TBR.

This is a Isolde and Tristan retelling. I don’t have that much knowledge on the tale, all I kind of know is that it doesn’t have a nice ending, however, the author said (without giving too much away) that she’s a fan of HEAs but they’ll need to work for it. So I can breathe a sigh of relief as well as get excited about all the obstacles they’ll need to overcome. Fantasy, retelling, forbidden romance, action, betrayals and fierce heroine along with brooding heroes. Count me in!

The cover looks so beautiful, the synopsis sounds incredible and I want this to steal my heart.

The Life and (Medieval) Times of Kit Sweetly by Jamie Pacton

Publication date: 5th May 2020

This sounds so cute. It’s a YA contemporary and I’m always up for one. This is like my go-to, comfort genre.

The Life and (Medieval) Times of Kit Sweetly is about a girl named Kit who works in a medieval themed restaurant as a wench as only guys can be knights but she wants to be a knight too and nothings going to stop her.

I can’t wait as it sounds so cute as well as discussing sexism. It’s describe to be A Knight’s Tale mixed with Moxie. I don’t know Moxie but I do know A Knight’s Tale and that alone has me pumped for this.

My Calamity Jane (The Lady Janies #3) by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton and Jodi Meadows

Publication date: 2nd June 2020

My Calamity Jane will be the third book in the Lady Janies series. I’m looking forward to this books and I haven’t even read the first two. I’ve got the first one on kindle and second in a hardcover so I’ll definitely will be reading them as I just love how they take classic tales and do a full twist on them. I’ve also heard they’re funny and it sounds like a series that’s right up my alley.

This ones centred around Calamity Jane, Annie Oakley and Frank Butler. The setting is 1876, wild west and cowboys. A retelling on Calamity Jane, yes!

Chasing Lucky by Jenn Bennett

Publication date: 5th May 2020

Ever since reading one of Jenn Bennett’s books I’ve been hooked on her writing and trying to buy all her books so when I heard she’s got a new one coming out I was stoked. I just really like her writing style and I always manage to relate to her stories in one way or another. Whether it’s just in characteristics or something the characters love. I can always picture myself in the story.

Chasing Lucky is about Josie Saint-Martin who is a budding photographer and is constantly on the move with her mother and now returned to New England to her run the family owned bookstore. She comes across Lucky who’s a rebel, town bad boy and former childhood best friend, however, it’s not a welcoming reunion. An incident happens and Lucky takes the blame for Josie. Leaving Josie wondering why he was so quick to help her.

This sounds as those it’s a friends to lovers trope story. The backdrop for it sounds so good and hope this meets my expectations.

Seasons of the Storm by Elle Cosimano

Publication date: 23rd June 2020

I know I’ve mentioned this one a few times so I knew I had to add this to the list. Again, it’s another retelling but this one is on the tale of Jack Frost.

Jack Sommers was offered the choice to live forever as long as her followed the rules of Gaia or die. In exchange for immortality he became the physical embodiment of Winter. The rule is that he must hunt and kill the Season before him. Things get complicated when Fleur, Spring, and Jack, Winter, start to fall for each other. Now they’re desperate and determined to break the cycle. As you can imagine, it’s not going to be easy.

This is another gorgeous cover! A unique story plot and retelling. I’m excited for this.

These are my top 5! I can’t wait until all these are released. 3/5 books on this list are retellings so it must be all about retellings this year (or at least for me).

What are your top 5 anticipated books for 2020?

Until next time…
