Hello everyone! How are you today?
I am back with a book haul for my November buys. I’ve found some exciting reads and I’m sure I’ve mentioned a few of these already in previous posts. I came across these reads either online, on Kindle, bookstores along with op-shops and second-hand bookshops.
Op-shop/Second-hand Bookshops
Everlife by Gena Showalter

Genre: YA, Science fiction/Dystopian
This is the last book of the Everlife trilogy by Gena Showalter. I found this in an op-shop for $5 and in really good condition. I just love the vibrant colours and the whole cover, actually all the covers in this trilogy. Now, I have the complete set and hope to start these soon.
Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend

Genre: Middle grade, Fantasy
I have seen this book everywhere in the book community. Every time I saw people reading it my curiosity peaked higher and when I found this for $10 I thought this was a good time to finally buy it. I found this at a second-hand bookshop/cafe called the Mockingbird Lounge.
The description of this book being Alice in Wonderland and Harry Potter mixed together sounds so cool and amazing. This will be a magical journey.
Twilight: The Graphic Novel by Stephanie Meyer, Young Kim

Genre: Graphic novel, Paranormal romance
Call me curious but I really wanted to know what the graphic novel was like. I’ve seen the movies but never read the books, however, when I saw this I thought I’d give it a go. I have read this and will be talking about it for my wrap-up but let’s just say it was a bit of a disappointment. Illustrations were beautiful but the way it was done was just not my style.
A Little Princess by Frances Hogson Burnett

Genre: Classic, all ages
I love the film A Little Princess staring Shirley Temple and have always wondered what the book would be like. It’s been on my ‘to buy’ pile for a while now and was another book I bought at the Mockingbird Lounge for $8. This is definitely a classic. I’m not the biggest reader of classics but this book is one I would definitely check out.
Bookstores or Online
Starry Eyes by Jenn Bennett

Genre: YA, Contemporary
This year was when I first heard of Jenn Bennett and after reading a couple of reviews I knew I had to try out her books as they seem like my style. She sounds like she write cute stories.
Starry Eyes I think is about best friends who have now turned into enemies due to family being rivals. Now they are stuck together on a camping trip where they get lost and are forced together trying to work their way back home.
The Beautiful by Renee Ahdieh

Genre: Historical fiction, Paranormal
Everyone probably knows this book as it has been everywhere in the book community. I really want to read this but I’m also aware there’s mixed reviews, mainly consisting of a rating of 3/5 but I still want to give this a go. It’s all about vampires in New Orleans during the late 1800s.
Serious Moonlight by Jenn Bennett

Genre: YA, Contemporary
This book is about Birdie and Daniel who have discovered to be working together after an unforgettable first encounter, which was supposed to be a one time thing, but now don’t know how to be around one another. Birdie is a mystery lover and bother her and Daniel try to track down the real identity of an anonymous mystery writer who visits the hotel they work at.
Another Jenn Bennet to my collection. I actually am currently reading this and I love her writing. It’s so easy to read and so cute!
The Diviners by Libba Bray

Genre: YA, Paranormal, Historical Fiction
This has been on my wishlist for a while now and so happy to have finally bought this. Even though I always hear about this book I actually don’t know what to really expect. I know it’s set in the 1920s with a thriller/paranormal vibe. Also, that cover is amazing I love it!
Flying Witch Vol. 1 by Chihiro Ishizuka

Genre: Manga
Flying Witch is a new manga I discovered through Booktube and it looked so cute. It’s about Makoto who is a beginner witch and has just moved into one of her relatives home with her black cat. It’s all about her learning the ropes of being a witch.
The Wallflower Wager by Tessa Dare

Genre: Historical fiction, Romance
Of course I have bought another Tessa Dare but this time it’s actually a physical copy instead of my kindle. This is the third book in the Girl Meets Duke series and don’t know too much about it as I hope to read the first two books first before getting to this one. Even though they can be read as stand-alones I still prefer to read them in order, that way I get to know the characters better.
Kindle
I’m trying out Kindle Unlimited so some of these I’ve been able to read for free.
The Sweetest Oblivion (Made Book 1) by Danielle Lori
Genre: Contemporary Romance
I only read one review on Goodreads for this and immediately was intrigued. This is a mafia romance where two rivals are joined together through a marriage. Nico was to marry Arianna although it was her older sister, Elena, that he really wanted but according to her father she’s unfit for him. He wants Elena and Elena wants him. Elena is the cherished daughter and no man can touch her. That’s the jist of it (talk more about this in my wrap-up).
Saga Vol. 1 & 2
Genre: Graphic novel, Fantasy
These graphic novels have been hyped so much. They were available through Kindle Unlimited for free so I thought I’d download the first two to try them out. The illustrations look incredible and look forward to see what they story plot is and everything.
Pestilence by Laura Thalassa & War by Laura Thalassa
Genre: Dystopian, Romance, Paranormal/Fantasy
These two are other books available through Kindle Unlimited for free. I tried out Pestilence, blitzed through it and immediately read the second book (War) afterwards. I would’ve kept going except the next book isn’t out yet but I’ll definitely be keeping my eye out as I really enjoyed these books. Even though they’re apart of the same series, each book is a completely different story with different main characters but still in a way follow a long an do mention characters from the previous book but that’s all.
This series is focused on four horsemen that have arrived on earth with the orders to wipe out humanity. The first book is all about Pestilence, a horseman who carries a disease, a plague and infects everyone whenever he travels through a city without even touching anyone. There is no cure. The second book War, is about the next horseman who arrives on earth after Pestilence. As his name is War, every town he travels to erupts into a war amongst the people and his army. If you’re lucky enough to survive who you were either killed on the spot if found or brought back to camp where you are giving the ultimatum to join his army or be killed.
That’s my book haul this month! Have you read any of these? Thank you for reading!
Until next time…
xx
