End of the Year Book Tag

Hey everyone! How are you all today?

I’m back with a tag I found on YouTube. I know we still have a couple of months left in the year but if I don’t post it now I feel like I will just forget about it. This sounded like such a fun tag and wanted to be a part of it

Tag created by Ariel Bissett but found it on Jessethereader’s channel. I’ve provided links to both of their videos. Let’s get to it!

Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?

When I made a list of my answers I saw that there are quite a few for this question. Oh boy. Also, majority of these are books I’m currently reading.

  • Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

This is the first book that I put down whilst in the middle of reading was Fangirl. I wasn’t too sure what it was that made me stop reading it. It might’ve been just the timing but I read about half of it and just lost interest. It’s been a couple of months since then and I hope to give it another try before the year’s up.

  • Hunting Prince Dracula by Kerri Maniscalco

This is one of my current reads and has been for around a month now. I’m really enjoying it but I just have to pick it up more. This always happens in a series to me and I just need to push through it (even though I like it). I’ve got around 250 words to go and I will finish it! I love the whole atmosphere and of course Audrey and Thomas.

  • The Devouring Gray by Christine Lynn Herman

Third times a charm! I have attempted to read this book a couple of times to just end up putting it down cause the story is not grasping in my mind. But I really want to read this book so, this time I have gone down the audiobook route and have now just about cracked the 100 page mark which is very promising as I was always getting stuck on like the second chapter so already progress has been made!

  • The Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K Rowling

I want to get through as many Harry Potter books as I can this year. I’ve been doing the audiobook experience and have been loving it!

  • The Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy by Laini Taylor

I’m up to the last book (Dreams of Gods and Monsters) then I have finished the series and it has taken me pretty much the whole year to read this series but that’s just me when tackling a series in general. I love the world and the story of Karou and Akiva so it’s a world I definitely want to dive back in.

Do you have an autumnal book to transition you into the end of the year?

Spring is here in Australia so autumns has already been but books that give that vibe is:

  • The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo

This is one of my current reads which contain 5 (I think don’t have the book by me) short stories inspired by folklore and myths.

  • Pumpkinheads by Rainbow Rowell

This graphic novel just screams Autumn (Fall) all over! It;s so freakin’ adorable and the illustrations are so colourful and gorgeous. If this doesn’t get you into the Autumn/Fall spirit then I don’t know what will.

I have read it and gave it 5/5 stars.

Is there a new release that you’re still waiting for?

Most book releases that I was looking forward to have already been released and out. However, on Goodreads the other day I saw a book called Seasons of the Storm by Elle Cosimano. It sounded so good and was looking for it until I saw it won’t be released until June 2020 so it’s my newest book on my wishlist.

What are some books that you want to read before the end of the year?

As I said I want to try to get through the series I’m currently reading (Harry Potter, Stalking Jack the Ripper) but also other series like Tessa Dare’s Spindle Cove series as well as her Castle Ever After series. They are so easy to read and quick to get through. The Lunar Chronicles is another series I want to continue.

So, pretty much trying to finish series I’ve been reading throughout this year.

Do you have any 5 star book predictions?

It’s always hard to tell what books will be 5 star. I try not to go into the book with too high of expectations. If I was to guess I had a feeling Pumpkinheads would be a 5 star as for me it’s hard for graphic novels to not be either 4 or 5 stars. I read it and yeah 5 star it’s just such a fuzzy warm graphic novel. I can definitely picture myself picking this up every year for Autumn or a Halloween read.

Have you already started making reading plans for 2020?

A little bit. This year I succeeded with my Goodreads reading challenge of reading 25 books. So I have an idea on my reading pace so I’m leaning towards with increasing my reading goal slightly and give myself a bit of a challenge.

As always I tell myself that when I start as series I will see it through til the end but I’m not going to put too much pressure on myself.

Other than that I don’t reading plan too much with my reading as it always changes. I rarely stick to reading my TBR down to every last book. Pretty much just try to read as much as I can, not put pressure on myself and have fun!

So that’s it for this tag! Hope you enjoyed! Feel free to take part in this tag as well.

Until next time…

xx
